A Holistic Postpartum Support Practice by Paige Patterson

Hiiiiii! I’m Paige and I’m a certified postpartum* doula, Integrative Infant Sleep Specialist, mother’s cook, and soon-to-be Certified Nutrition Consultant, specializing in supporting fertility, pregnancy, postpartum* and babies through holistic nutrition.

I became a mama in 2022 and I GET how hard it is to thrive as a new mother/parent under the deeply unsupportive systems that so many of us in the west live within. I have felt the immense overwhelm of being a hungry, exhausted millennial mama stuck in a freeze state, consuming all the information on the internet. I have also felt the moments of peace and huge love that come with being in my own intuition and deep knowing in this phase of life. I wish so much more of the latter on new families. I know more joy, confidence and integration become possible with aligned HUMAN support and opportunities to remember what feel right in our very own bodies.

I come to this work because I believe that nourished, enCOURAGEd, soft-hearted mamas/parents in their power can change our communities for the better. Matrescence is a deep space of ending, beginning and forced redirects that has the potential to transform our lives and the lives around us so beautifully, especially when we are held. Let’s work together to make your maternal thresholds and mundane moments as beautiful as you want them to be.

*I subscribe to the notion that postpartum is forever, so we might as well wholeheartedly befriend it and flow within it.

Dreamy Postpartum Planning Session

1:1 space to get into your body and heart and dream up up your ideal postpartum. We’ll scaffold ways to maximize your nourishment, prioritize your healing, and make your sweet baby bubble a protected bonding space. There is so much we don’t have control over in our birth and postpartum experience, but when we let our goodwill proceed us by planning for postpartum, we set the stage for a flexible, supported period of beautiful and significant transition. We aim to set you up to receive generously, tap into your intuition and feel into your boundaries. This is a great way to fortify yourself, your partnership and familial relationships before birth. We’ll get practical, spiritual and silly about it all at the same time.

*Planning sessions are sliding scale $75-100 for 60 minutes and can be done virtually from anywhere.

Infant and Toddler Sleep Support

1:1 attachment-focused support for the mother who wants to remain in nurture and connection with her baby 24/7, while maintaining mental health and staying resourced. You don’t have to troubleshoot baby/toddler sleep and your own sleep-deprivation alone. You don’t have to succumb to internet rabbit hole overwhelm or resort to methods that don’t feel right to you or your baby. In these sessions you are held and empowered to listen to you and you baby as a dyad. Sleep isn’t something we need to teach our babies, it’s a physiological state—a biological function, sustained by safety and nurture. We can work together to normalize biological infant sleep and set realistic expectations for your baby’s early years and honor our anthropological design. We’ll examine temperament, circadian rhythm, daytime sleep, and sleep hygiene. We can gently screen for red flags and refer out to trusted practitioners when necessary. This is gentle, loving support for parents who want to remain in their intuition and find restful rhythms that work for families and their unique systems and setups. No training, no pressure, no ignoring your baby’s cues or cries. Offered as 1-hour sessions, can be purchased in 3 or 4 session packages.

*Personalized infant/toddler sleep support is $85-125 per hourlong session.

Postpartum Meal and Snack Prep

This is a great option for anyone wanting bespoke home cooked meals and snacks at the ready during postpartum. I have years of experience cooking for postpartum and love to serve up colorful, nourishing, nutrient-replenishing meals and snacks. We set up 1-3 visits in which I come to you with a menu planned and groceries in tow to cook up a storm for 4 hours and leave you with a stacked, organized fridge/pantry and sparkling countertops. I cook with sleep-deprived, healing bodies in mind and most food I leave in my wake can be eaten with one hand while you nurture your tiny human(s). Get Fed!

*currently available Oakland, Berkeley and LaMorinda areas at a sliding scale hourly rate of $75-100

Full Postpartum Doula Support Package

This is a great option for anyone in wanting lots of hands-on support and continuity of care from the end of pregnancy through the first weeks of postpartum. Ideally we’ll have a fun prenatal session where we feather your nest, connect and plan for your ideal postpartum. I’m available for phone and text check-ins during our contracted time together. Then, after birth, I show up and support you practically, emotionally and informationally during our agreed upon amount of four-hour day shifts during the tender first few weeks after birth. In our time together I’m happy to hold space for you and all the feelings and experiences that come up in birth and postpartum. I’m there to support your healing journey and your unique feeding journey. I’m there to cook beautiful postpartum-friendly meals and snacks, lightly tidy and keep your home in flow and to nurture YOU, so you can nurture baby. I’m there to connect you with resources you might need along the way. Support might look different for every family and needs change visit to visit, so I pride myself on being able to read the room and show up with a loving, open presence. My intention is to work myself out of a job by empowering you, caring for you and cheering you on in the early days of parenthood.

*available in Oakland, Berkeley and LaMorinda areas at a sliding scale hourly rate of $80-125

*Regarding sliding scale pricing: you choose to pay what feels appropriate and within the means of your household. Please honestly consider paying more if you have access to a higher level of wealth and/or privilege. Bear in mind if you are able to pay a higher rate, you make it possible for care providers like myself to make more space for folks who need the lower rate, while still being paid a living wage and supporting my own family. If pricing feels prohibitive to you, please be in touch.

Testimonials

  • Paige's warm and inviting presence translates into the dishes she makes. After delivering my first son, I lost much blood and was anemic and fragile. Paige knew exactly what to cook to nurse me back to health so I could focus on my new baby. From protein-packed lentil soup to lactation balls and nettle tea for breastfeeding, there was so much thought and care put into everything she made. She is truly magical and I would recommend her to anyone looking to be nourished and delighted.

  • Authentic nourishment is getting increasingly harder to come by in this world. When I found myself navigating the brutal and beautiful pieces of becoming a new parent for the second time the level of depletion across every aspect of my life was extraordinary. Paige's calm confidence, unique ability to read a room, deep knowledge and skill with all things postpartum were a lifesaver. She was able to support us through multiple stages of parenthood with delicious and comforting meals, as well as invaluable counsel and advice. The cherry on top was her network and ability to identify other experts we could add to our team when issues would arise. When my best friend had her baby I gifted her time with Paige, that gift ended up being life saving. She is truly an incredible practitioner that will help you find your peace and presence. We feel so incredibly fortunate to have her in our corner.
